about me
My name is Allison Julian, but please call me Aly. I am a senior at Nipmuc Regional High School in Massachusetts. I have lived in the same small town for these first 18 years of my life, but with college just around the corner I am excited to get out and explore! But before I leave, I want to enjoy this final year of high school as much as I can, and part of that is completing my legacy project.
my family
I am blessed to say I have a large family. While my immediate family only consists of my sister, my mother and father, and myself, I have many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members. My family is everything to me and I would do anything for them to be happy and healthy. My sister's name is Katelyn, she is 16, and while we didn't get along very well as kids, she really is my best friend now and easily the funniest human being I know. My parents are my biggest supporters and they have been there for me through everything. I can not thank them enough for everything they have done for me. my biggest interest I have been dancing since before I can remember, and honestly, I can't imagine my life without it. The memories I've made, and the lessons I've learned will stick with me forever. I have been competitively dancing since I was in fourth grade, so this is my ninth year competing. And I am so excited to see what this season has in store for my teammates and I, but nothing will come close to the incredible feeling of going undefeated and placing first place at nationals from our past season. I just hope we can keep it up! my biggest passion Working with kids is something I will be doing no matter where I am in my life. While my career path is still undecided, my profession will include working with kids, because it is something I enjoy most in this world. The past couple summers I have worked at a summer camp, and that was what made me realize this passion. where is my life heading? To be completely honest... I'm not sure yet. I know for a fact that I will be attending college after I graduate, but other than that I have no idea where I'm going. But the uncertainty has me excited. |
"what do you want to be when you grow up?"
The question we all get asked means something a little different once you're older. When you're a little kid on the first day of kindergarten you are expected to say something like, astronaut, race car driver, movie star, etc. But once you reach high school, especially your senior year, you're expected to give a more realistic answer. And it's at this point that most students have no idea what to say. Of course there is always a handful that do know, and they're the fortunate ones. When asked this my freshman year I would say "a surgeon." And then my sophomore year it was "a physical therapist." Junior year, "a pediatrician." But senior year, I have no answer. But it's not because I have zero idea what to do, it's because I can't decide between two of options. A pediatrician, or an elementary school teacher. I recently realized that the only thing holding me back from making a decision, was my mind focusing on the wrong aspect of things. I was so worried about the money that I would be making that I lost track of what I really wanted to do in my future: open a dance studio. When I stopped thinking about the money, my choice became clear... I would study elementary education, with a double minor in dance and business. And after this plan came into my mind, I have never been more excited for the future. |
